Creative Fun at the Marks Gate Arts Day

Posted on Sep 7, 2014 by in Blog, Events, Get Arty | 0 comments

Last month we hosted our biggest event on Marks Gate to date during our time on the estate, over 180 people attended the Marks Gate Arts Day!

It was a fantastic mix of art, creativity, dance, music, tea, and fun, with something for everybody!

Local Marks Gate creative talents joined forces with artist Sadia Ur-Rehman to deliver a one-off spectacular event. The event kicked off with a free ‘street dance’ workshop with Marks Gate very own choreographer and dance extraordinaire, Game outside the Community Centre. Causing a stir and raising people’s curiosity, we had some younger residents showing off their moves! The event also hosted the following:

Make & Decorate a Candle with Cassandra’s Candles
Make and decorate your very own candle to take home with local resident Cassandra Frederick of Cassandra’s Candles.

‘Jewellery Making’ with Coby Stewart
Design your own necklace or bracelet with Coby using a variety of beads and wire.

‘Cupcake Decorating’ with Surena’s Cupcakes
Decorate a delicious cupcake with your own design to take home with local resident Surena Stevens of Surena’s Cupcakes.

‘Flower Arranging’ with Monica’s Florist
Learn to arrange flowers by an experienced florist from Monica’s Florist.

English Afternoon Tea Party
Join artist Sadia Ur-Rehman and her tea hosts for a special afternoon tea with sweet treats and Marks Gate inspired parlour games.
Here’s some photos from the day:
