Introducing Renu Raithaha
As part of the Framing Marks Gate series we photographed and interviewed a series of local residents and key workers who have played an interesting role on Marks Gate. Meet Renu Raithaha, local resident and familiar face to all on Marks Gate! Renu works in the Post Office on the estate. She shares her Marks Gate story with us.
What’s your name?
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I live on Marks Gate and also work here, I work for the Post Office. I’ve worked in a Post Office for the last 22 years now, 14 in the one on Marks Gate. I’m generally a very happy and positive person.
Why are you on Marks Gate?
I have lived on the estate for 28 years, 14 of those I’ve spent working in the Post Office.
How long have you known Marks Gate?
What are your experiences of Marks Gate?
I like it here! It’s my home. My children, a boy and a girl grew up here and went to school. They’ve both moved away now, but still live very close. I have a positive relationship with the residents, I really enjoy working here and meeting them.
Tell us a special memory that you have of Marks Gate.
Every day! I love working at the Post Office on Marks Gate and really enjoy meeting all of the customers.
